The borders of Iran, Turkey, and Iraq meet in the Qandil Mountains, probably the one of the most bombed areas in the world that often hits the headlines with attacks by the Turkish and Iranian army against the Kurdish resistance groups in recent years. For many years, the soldiers of these three countries have been fighting Kurdish freedom fighters in bloody conflicts in the very same area. In Taha Karimi’s movie, mothers from all sides are looking for their lost sons and daughters. When three old friends, Shamal of Prayers, Rasool of Tears and Eyeneddin of Daff, fall in love with Nesreen, the daughter of the mosque’s servant during their service at the mosque they get expelled from the mosque. But they never forget Nesreen and start looking for her when they hear of her disappearance in Qandil Mountains. This is the story of their search for her, their beloved one. Following his beautiful short film White Mountains Kurdish director Taha Karimi continues to set his first, beautifully filmed, dramatic feature against the violent yet stunning backdrop of the Qandil Mountains.
