A young suicidal, leaves her last message floating away ina botlle as she dies by a lake. The message makes it journey and ends up by another beach. A passerby notices the message but does not believe what he has found.

Nawras

Director: Kamaran Jamal

South Kurdistan (Iraq) / 12 mins / Kurdish (Sorani) with English subtitles

Nawras examines violence against women by following the story of a young woman who is raped by her father-in-law as she struggles to deal with the violence perpetrated against her.

Nostalgia

South Kurdistan (Iraq) 2003, Along with his grandmother, Dara, a nine year-old blind boy, has been driven out of his native city and now lives in a refugee camp where the population suffers from cold and hunger.  Nostalgia follows his journey to the camp where he befriends Sakar, a seven year-old girl, and his journey back home after the liberation of Iraq.

On the Threshold

A mother of two is trying to overcome the difficulties of life while waiting for news about her missing husband missing since the war. Meanwhile her little girl believes she has found the pencil about which she once argued with her brother, but the pencil comes back into their life in a tragic way.

Paradise Flute

South Kurdistan (Iraq) 1995, A Kurdish boy, Dilan goes to the Iranian border with other children to sell back identity tags found on dead iranian soldiers. He is saving money to buy a flute but for that he needs more tags. One day he gets lost among the mines and does not return.

Pomegranate

North Kurdistan (Turkey) / 2009 / 5 mins / Czech with English Subtitles

Katka arrives at the train station late and misses her train. While waiting for the next one time incidentally inches-open the door to another world. She is given a choice about going or leaving just as Persephone was, who returned to the underground kingdom because of a pomegranate.
