Xelilo, a disturbed man, walks endlessly through the streets of the Kurdish town of Nisebin (Nusaybin) in south east Turkey. He is curiously noticed by Cengo, a 12 year old boy, selling chewing gum to help his family to survive. Their poor but carefree lives take a sudden turn when the Turkish military takes power in 1980. The curfew and the resistance of the people becomes the centre of their lives with dramatic consequences. The life of Xelilo and the other Kurds are endangered. Based on true story, Meş jointly written by director Shiar Abdi and main actor Selamo, is shot entirely with the support of volunteer crew members.
